“How long does it take to paint the exterior of my house?” This is one of the most common questions we get when doing an estimate for a potential clients house. Typically a house will take about three to four working days from start to finish for us at Wright Prime & Paint. There are a variety of factors that influence our answer.
Here are some of the factors we look at when we estimate an exterior paint job:
• The level of cleaning needed to prep the house by removing dirt, mildew, spider webs, etc. Cleaning is accomplished by pressure washing prior to painting.
• The amount of sanding needed to remove failing layers of paint followed by primer.
• Amount of caulking needed to seal the house and prevent water damage.
• Is there trim or siding that needs to be replaced?
• Any uneven terrain surrounding the house means that it will take longer to place ladders safely.
• The total square footage of siding and linear feet of trim that needs to be painted.
• Will the paint be applied by sprayer or by a brush/roller?
• Are the gutters and downspouts being painted?
• Will the front door & garage door be painted?
And of course, the weather loves to mess up the schedule. Wind and rain tend to be the most problematic for our exterior painting schedule. Luckily in Colorado Springs, we can just wait five minutes for it to change. We try to be the best possible painters in Colorado Springs. If we have to take an extra day to do the best possible job; then that’s what we will do.
