Everybody has that one thing in their house that they wish they could fix or eliminate. A fireplace is a centerpiece on it’s own. Many folks prefer having one in their home and are willing to spend thousands to install one or upgrade their current one. A room with a very high ceiling needs more creativity to make it a cozy space, and one way to make a fireplace stand out is by adding a rock wall around it. In some places, this can elevate a space and create a rustic aesthetic. But for others, it can drown a space with too many design elements.
This was the case for one of our client’s homes, an adorable cabin-style residence with two large stone wall fireplaces occupying a living room corner, and a basement room. Though the homeowners loved the unique rock look, it lacked in contemporary style and they wanted an update.

Because this home was surrounded by trees and wildlife, cleaning the fireplace and prepping the encompassing areas was the first step. Once that was done, the main living area’s white walls were painted a warmer beige color. Enhancements didn’t end there, our team also primed and painted the dining room, kitchen, and bedrooms to match the new beige color. With a new color on the walls, the fireplaces and stone walls were in need of an upgrade. Opting for a darker color to contrast with the new paint, we painted the fireplace rock walls a modern black. The results were remarkable. This Monument home is sure to make its neighbors jealous and all it needed was carefully selected interior paint applied with an expert hand.
