Stunning Interior Paint Transformation – What Is The Cost?
You may be wondering, like many other people, “how much does it cost to paint an interior room?” This is one of the most common questions we receive. If you have never worked with a paint contractor before, you may have no idea what to expect. Our hope is that we can answer some of the questions and guide you throughout your project.
Here are a few guidelines that will help you budget for your next interior painting project in the Colorado Springs area.
To begin, be aware that the average costs for painting services has many variables going into the price per room. We will share what an average room will cost if you elect to use us as your interior painters. One of the most significant cost differences is the type of paint we use and paint preparation we do.
Painting a Kitchen
Kitchens are labor intensive, yet require little paint. Several factors go into pricing a kitchen project. Kitchen walls and ceilings tend to have grease, water, and smoke damage from years of cooking in your kitchen. Unfortunately, these can create problems when we attempt to paint over them. As a result, we must clean all grease before we apply our water-based paint. If not, issues can arise as oil and water don’t mix well. If smoke damage is present, it may need to be sealed with specific primers to seal the smell or discoloring. We want to avoid discoloration bleeding through the new paint colors.
Our average kitchen painting project size is around 18’ long x 12’ wide with 9’ ceilings. A kitchen of this size will cost between $450-$800. We highly recommend using interior paint that’s very durable and washable like Sherwin-Williams Duration for walls and ceilings.
Painting a Bathroom
Bathrooms also take more labor hours than a living room or bedroom. While these rooms don’t use much paint, they usually take more time to paint around all the toilet, shower, bathtub, vanity, baseboards, etc. For a small bathrooms, you can expect a cost between $200-$400. Large bathrooms, like master bathrooms, may cost upwards of $1,000. We recommend using interior paint that inhibits the growth of mold and mildew.
Painting a Bedroom
Let’s say the average bedroom is 12′ by 12′ and 8′ tall. The cost for this room – walls and ceiling – will be between $450-$650. This includes labor, paint, materials, and basic hole filling/patching. We will also take the extra precaution to cover all floor surfaces and mask baseboards and furniture. We’ll even vacuum your entire room before your bedroom is completed.
Additional costs for a bedroom paint job will be having more baseboards, doors, trim, and closets. Raising the grade of paint will also increase the cost of painting.
Painting a Living Room/Dining Room
Finally, we have living rooms and dining rooms! These are some of the most popular places we paint. An average living room is 22’ by 16’ with 9’ ceilings. These rooms usually cost between $750-$1000. This price includes all labor, paint, and supplies. As with all of our interior painting projects, we take care to mask and cover floors, baseboards, and furniture.
